Welwyn Head Coach

Gk Icon coach Tom

Tom Gallin

Tom has been at GK Icon for 6 years now

As well as leading the Welwyn Friday centre he also leads sessions at Broxbourne. He is a foundation phase Goalkeeper Coach at Arsenal Women Academy, responsible for the U8-U13 goalkeepers at the club, as well as the AWFC college programme goalkeeper coach. He is also a part of Cockfosters Football Club coaching within the youth set up where we compete in the EJA and Whetstone Wanderers Youth Football Club helping the keepers there too.

Lots of the keepers that have worked with Tom have gone on to sign for professional academies including Barnet, Colchester, Stevenage, MK Dons, Charlton, Watford, Tottenham and Arsenal.

Tom believes that goalkeepers should have great technical ability but like to focus more on the decision making and “why” keepers make certain decisions. He is also a firm believer that in order to learn and progress you have to have fun and this is a fundamental in sessions.
